Why I Opted Out of Edo Governorship Race – Ize-Iyamu

Less than 24 hours before the All Progressives Congress (APC) primary election, Pastor Osage Ize-Iyamu, a leading contender, has decided to step down from the governorship race. In a letter addressed to the acting State Chairman of the party, Jarrett Tenebe, Ize-Iyamu expressed the difficulty of his decision.

In his withdrawal letter, Ize-Iyamu stated, “I entered the contest as a progressive democrat, with an open mind to keenly contest and accept the result of a process that is fair, credible, and transparent.” He acknowledged the efforts of the National Working Committee (NWC) of the APC in rectifying misconceptions about disqualifications, emphasizing that all 12 aspirants, including himself, were screened and issued clearance certificates.

This move, according to Ize-Iyamu, helped restore integrity and dispel doubts about the fairness of the selection process.
