Federal Ministry of Works Announces 24-Hour Closure of Third Mainland Bridge for Essential Repairs

In a bid to advance critical repair works, the Federal Ministry of Works has declared a complete shutdown of the Third Mainland Bridge for a 24-hour duration. This closure, slated from 12 noon on Wednesday, February 28, to 12 noon on Thursday, February 29, 2024, aims to facilitate a significant phase of ongoing maintenance activities on the bridge. Lagos State Commissioner for Transportation, Oluwaseun Osiyemi, conveyed the closure notice on Monday, emphasizing the imperative nature of uninterrupted work execution. Throughout this period, both carriageways will remain inaccessible to traffic, prompting the recommendation of alternative routes for motorists. Road users are strongly advised to adhere to designated alternative routes for the duration of the closure, as access to the bridge will be restricted. Osiyemi provided assurance that traffic management personnel will be deployed to ensure efficient traffic flow and minimize inconveniences. Repair efforts on the bridge have been underway since January, involving intermittent closures to accommodate inbound and outbound traffic.
