The Federal Government has planned to fully automate Nigeria’s students’ loan scheme

The announcement that Nigeria’s Students’ Loan Scheme will be fully automated in a matter of days was made by Dr. Akintunde Sawyerr, the Executive Secretary of the Students Loans Board, after a meeting with President Bola Tinubu at the State House, Abuja. The move towards automation aims to streamline and improve the efficiency of the student loan process.

The emphasis on zero human intervention in the application and processing of the student loan scheme highlights the commitment to a fully automated system, aiming for efficiency and reducing the likelihood of errors or delays.

Dr. Akintunde Sawyerr emphasizes that the aim of automating the student loan scheme is to eliminate financial barriers hindering individuals from pursuing tertiary education. The focus is on bridging the gap caused by a lack of finance and funding, providing greater opportunities for applicants who aspire to further their education.

Dr. Akintunde Sawyerr highlights that the Student Loan Act prioritizes students in teacher training programs and vocational skills, catering to both academic and technical aspirations. The application process for the program will be online, ensuring accessibility and ease for applicants through a specified submission link.

The application process for the student loan scheme will involve the submission of specific information, including the JAMB registration number, Date of Birth, National Identification Number, and Biometric Verification Number. These details aim to qualify applicants for the loan, ensuring a thorough and secure application process.

Dr. Akintunde Sawyerr explains that applicants will interact with the online portal, providing necessary information like their JAMB number and date of birth to establish eligibility for the loan. This digitized process aims to facilitate a smoother and more accessible application experience for prospective beneficiaries.
