Singer Spyro Expresses Frustration: Fireboy and Oxlade Found Success Ahead of Me

Nigerian singer Oludipe Oluwasanmi David, known as Spyro, has openly shared his sentiments about feeling pained when his colleagues Fireboy DML and Oxlade achieved fame before him.

During his appearance on the latest episode of the Tea With Tay podcast, Spyro revealed his frustration about junior colleagues in the music industry surpassing him, even though he had invested in promoting his music on blogs.

Spyro reflected on paying for his song to be featured on NotJustOk, expecting it to elevate his career. However, when Fireboy and Oxlade gained recognition ahead of him, he experienced disappointment and questioned God about the situation.

He acknowledged that, unbeknownst to him at the time, God was using the delay in his success to teach him that it wasn’t solely about his talent but also about divine grace.

Spyro expressed his emotions, saying, “Na Oxlade and Fireboy blow na im pain me pass. No be say pain but it triggered me. I am happy that they blew at the point they blew, but these are people that I was in the industry before them. I was like, ‘God, what is going on?’ So, it was so painful for me. It was frustrating. I would cry. I would struggle with God.”
