Chief Jimi Solanke, the legendary poet and playwright, breathed his last on Monday at the age of 81. Reports indicate that he passed away while being transported from his country home in Ipara Remo, Remo North Local Government Area of Ogun State, to Babcock University Teaching Hospital in Ilisan, where he succumbed to death.

Chief Solanke had been battling health issues and was reportedly in and out of the hospital in recent times.
