Fubara Offers Empathy to Re-nominated Commissioners ‘Caught in Crossfire,’ He States

Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has officially administered the oath of office to nine re-nominated commissioners within the state. The solemn ceremony took place at the State Executive Council Chambers of the Government House in Port Harcourt on Friday,

underscoring the significance of the occasion.
The commissioners, reportedly aligned with the former governor, Nyesom Wike, had previously tendered their resignations amidst the political turbulence between Wike and the current governor.
However, the Rivers State House of Assembly re-screened and re-confirmed the former commissioners as part of the agreements outlined in the eight-point agenda, following the intervention of President Bola Tinubu in the political feud between Wike and Fubara. Congratulating the commissioners, Fubara urged them to prioritize the welfare of the state in their duties.

Fubara expressed, “I don’t think I have any charge for you. You have already read your charge to uphold the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. I urge you to do the right thing. I can see how heavy your hearts are. I don’t blame you. You were caught in the crossfire.”
