African Games: Team Nigeria finishes second with 120 medals
Federal Government Commends Team Nigeria’s Performance at 13th African Games in Ghana
The Federal Government has praised the remarkable achievements of Team Nigeria in the recently concluded 13th African Games held in Ghana. Team Nigeria secured the second position on the medal table, trailing behind Egypt, with an impressive haul of 47 gold, 33 silver, and 40 bronze medals, as reported by the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).
Sen. John Own Enoh, the Minister of Sports Development, conveyed President Bola Tinubu’s congratulatory message to the athletes in Abuja on Sunday, describing their performance as commendable. Enoh commended the athletes for their gallantry and for elevating Nigeria’s status as a prominent sports powerhouse on the African continent.
With 52 countries fiercely competing in 29 sports, and Nigeria participating in 25 of them, the minister emphasized the importance of immediate preparations for the 14th African Games scheduled to take place in Egypt in 2027. He urged the athletes to maintain their momentum and begin preparations early to enhance Nigeria’s performance in future competitions.
Enoh assured the athletes of his unwavering support, emphasizing his commitment as Nigeria’s Sports Development Minister to accompany them throughout their journey to future sporting events.
