Eguavoen Makes Super Eagles Return Following Peseiro’s Departure
The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) technical director, Augustine Eguavoen, has taken over the national team after Jose Peseiro’s exit.
Peseiro’s contract ended in February and he has now departed despite taking a pay cut.
Eguavoen will now take charge of the Three-time AFCON winners on an interim basis, till a permanent solution is sorted out.
The former Super Eagles right wing-back was in charge of the Nigerian team at the AFCON 2021 tournament in Cameroon, following the exit of the former coach, Gernot Rohr.
The 58-year-old remained in charge of the team after Nigeria were knocked out of the AFCON tournament in Cameroon at the round of sixteen stage by Tunisia.
Eguavoen was the team’s technical director when they took a silver medal at the AFCON 2023 tournament in Ivory Coast.
