“Federal Government Threatens 50% Expenditure Cut for Underperforming Power Distribution Companies in Nigeria
The Federal Government, through the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission, announced at the 1st NES Stakeholders Meeting of 2024 in Lagos, plans to penalize power distribution companies (Discos) falling short of industry standards. Each Disco’s performance will be scrutinized individually, potentially resulting in a loss of 50% of their operating expenditures.
Nigeria currently boasts 11 power distribution companies responsible for supplying electricity to over 12 million registered users nationwide.”
