President Bola Tinubu has pledged his government’s commitment to ramping up food production and transitioning Nigeria into a net exporter, addressing the nation’s escalating hunger and challenges. The assurance came following a meeting with a delegation from the Global Tijaniyya Movement, led by Khalifa Muhammad Mahe Niass, at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, as stated by Ajuri Ngelale, Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity.

Tinubu emphasized the imperative of agricultural transformation to achieve food self-sufficiency and export goals, alongside providing support for Hajj pilgrims and endorsing spiritual endeavors in nation-building. He stressed the significance of collaboration between political and spiritual leaders to foster unity and national progress.

In outlining agricultural strategies, the President detailed plans to enhance productivity through expanding farmlands, facilitating access to low-interest loans for farmers, and investing substantially in irrigation infrastructure. He underscored a vision of leveraging modern equipment and aggressive mechanization, with the deployment of thousands of tractors to boost food production significantly.

Tinubu reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to upgrading healthcare facilities, training medical professionals, and ensuring comprehensive health insurance coverage for all citizens. He concluded with an expression of gratitude to the Global Tijaniyya Movement for their visit and support towards national development.
