“Grammy Nominations: Sanwo-Olu Applauds Nigerian Nominees Despite Losses”
Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, extends congratulations to all Nigerian Grammy Awards nominees, including Davido and Burna Boy, despite not clinching their respective nominations. In a post on his official handle, Sanwo-Olu celebrates their achievements, emphasizing their mastery on exclusive platforms and world-class talent that Nigeria is immensely proud of.
He assures those disheartened by the results that, in the eyes of their fans and Nigerians, they remain everlasting winners. Sanwo-Olu highlights their representation of Afrobeat and Nigeria on global stages, expressing confidence that they will triumphantly light up desired stages in the future.
The Grammy Award Premiere Ceremony saw South African singer Tyla winning the Best African Music Performance category at the 2024 Grammys. Burna Boy, with four nominations, and Davido, with three nominations in his debut, were among the nominees, alongside Asake, Arya Starr, Olamide, and Tyla from South Africa.
However, despite their nominations, none of the Nigerian artists emerged victorious in their respective categories on Sunday.
