“Peseiro Calls for Increased Goal Output
“Super Eagles Coach Peseiro Demands More Goals Despite Strong Defensive Record at AFCON”
Super Eagles head coach, Jose Peseiro, has emphasized the need for increased goal-scoring output from his team, despite maintaining the best defensive record at the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast. According to PUNCH Sports Extra, Peseiro expressed his expectations as the team advanced to the semifinals of the tournament.
Nigeria secured their spot in the last four of the 34th edition of the Africa Cup of Nations with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Angola, courtesy of a goal from Ademola Lookman, his third of the competition. However, despite possessing some of the continent’s top attackers, Peseiro’s squad has struggled to convert opportunities, managing just six goals in five games.
In their match against Angola, the Super Eagles registered only three shots on target and found themselves on the defensive for much of the second half. Peseiro is now calling for improved efficiency in front of goal as Nigeria prepares for the crucial stages of the tournament.
